Ducati Rolly Moped
With Phil Aynsley
Undoubtedly the most basic model Ducati ever produced was the Rolly – a marked contrast to the company’s normally highly sophisticated designs.

Built during the mid 1960s the Rolly was motorised transport in its simplest form. The moped was based on the earlier Brisk but pared down even further. The single tube frame also held the fuel, doing away with the Brisk’s tank for instance.

No rear suspension was employed and the front forks only had rudimentary springing. The seat was sprung however!
The 48 cc two-stroke engine had but a single speed and made 1.3 hp at 5200 rpm. Dry weight was 42 kg and top speed reached 50 km/h.

Perhaps the most noteworthy feature was the bespoke plastic tool bag, hung from the rear of the seat.
